Elevate AI
Proposal Details
Two tracks are available for the Teaching with AI proposal. These are AI for Equity Track and the AI for Innovation Track.
AI for Equity Track (10 proposals funded):
- 100-level or 200-level course instructors will re-design their course to integrate AI to personalize and transform the learning experience for students
- This track will focus on using AI for equity with the goal of applying equity-focused principles, personalized learning, and student support strategies to increase retention of first-year students. (Note: This track is embedded in the DoE Digital Learning grant: Pathways to Equity, Access and Student Success)
- Individuals will receive a $1,500 stipend upon completing all of the requirements
- In addition to the stipend, up to $300 will be provided for subscriptions to relevant AI tools needed for the classroom implementation
- Faculty participants will work with the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and will receive critical training on inclusive practices for first-year students, AI for learning design, and data-informed strategies
- CTL will also work with the faculty member to collect data regarding the impact of the integration of AI on student learning and other aspects of the classroom experience
- At the end of the academic semester, all participants will be required to submit a 2-3 page case study detailing the AI-based teaching innovation. This case study will be shared on the AI Institute’s webpage.
AI for Innovation Track (5 proposals funded):
- 300-level or 400-level course instructors will re-design their course to integrate AI
- Level 2 proposals will involve an extensive integration of AI into a specific course that the faculty member selects
- Level 3 proposals will involve the use of AI to personalize and transform the learning experience for students
- Individuals will receive a $500 stipend upon completing a level 2 project and a $1,000 stipend for a level 3 project
- In addition to the stipend, up to $300 will be provided for subscriptions to relevant AI tools needed for the classroom implementation
- Faculty participants will work with the Center for Teaching and Learning and receive critical consulting and support during the project’s duration
- CTL will also work with the faculty member to collect data regarding the impact of the integration of AI on student learning and other aspects of the classroom experience
- At the end of the academic semester, all participants will be required to submit a 2-3 page case study detailing the AI-based teaching innovation. This case study will be shared on the AI Institute’s webpage.

The application process involves several steps:
Initial Application: Interested individuals and teams submit an initial application via this Typeform.
Review and Selection: A selection committee reviews the applications based on the program's evaluation criteria.
Virtual Interviews (full project proposals only): Candidates/teams are invited for 30-minute Zoom or MS Teams interviews to discuss their projects in more detail and address questions from the selection committee.
Final Selection: Successful candidates are notified of their acceptance into the program and provided with further instructions on how to get started.
