Just one year ago, we launched the AI Institute with a bold vision: to serve as a hub for AI innovation in the Four Corners region. Since then, the Institute has become a catalyst for collaboration, connection, and community-driven progress.
In its first 12 months, the AI Institute has led the way in making artificial intelligence more accessible, inclusive, and practical. From hosting the Four Corners AI Conference, attended by over 400 community members, to funding 15 regional incubator projects, the Institute’s impact is already being felt across campus and the broader community.
Our Elevate AI incubator program has supported initiatives that reflect regional values and community needs. At the Sexual AssaultServices Organization (SASO), staff are exploring how AI can streamline operations and improve outreach to better support survivors. On campus, faculty are reimagining classroom learning with generative tools, advancing equity and innovation across disciplines. Together, these projects show how applied AI can deepen local resilience and expand access across the Four Corners.
Throughout the year, we have emphasized mutual learning.Whether through monthly AI meetups or professional development workshops, the focus has remained on listening, exploring, and building together.
Looking ahead, we hope to expand training opportunities, build credential pathways for students and professionals, and continuing our efforts to advance responsible AI education.
We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished in our first year. And we’re just getting started.
