SASO Receives Elevate AI Funding

From improved workflows to enhanced outreach and engagement, the Elevate AI incubator program supports innovation across the region. The Sexual Assault Services Organization (SASO) has received support to explore AI tools that can improve how they reach and serve survivors of sexual violence.

SASO is partnering with the Institute’s AI analysts to evaluate their existing systems and identify AI-powered solutions that could streamline operations, strengthen communications, assist with staff and volunteer training, and increase the organization’s capacity to respond to community needs.

“As a small local non-profit, SASO is excited to learn more about how we can utilize AI technology to improve the quality of support we provide to survivors of sexual violence. We are new to AI and are looking forward to improving communication and marketing to better reach survivors in our community,” said Laura Latimer, Executive Director of SASO.

SASO’s project is rooted in community care, with a focus on responsible innovation and long-term sustainability. This is an opportunity to support a valuable community organization and help others through the knowledge that is gained through the work. The AI Institute at Fort Lewis College will collaborate with SASO throughout the project, building shared knowledge and supporting efforts that prioritize equity and public good.
