Andrew Aitken is a leading expert in open source business strategies, with more than two decades of experience at the intersection of enterprise software, open innovation, and developer ecosystems. He currently advises major financial institutions on how to commercialize open source AI frameworks. Andrew has helped global enterprises, governments, and startups embrace open source not just as a technology choice, but as a business model and competitive advantage. He founded Olliance Group—the industry’s first open source strategy consulting firm— where he advised clients including the US White House, IBM, Intel, Microsoft and Lloyds Bank. He was Head of Open Source at Wipro, a $10 B+ systems integrator, where he built a globally recognized open source brand. Most recently, Andrew was Chief Open Source Officer at Hedera, where he led the effort to open source its entire codebase under an independently governed foundation, making it the first public Layer 1 blockchain to do so. A frequent keynote speaker and open source advocate, Andrew has presented globally, including recently at the Global Developer Conference in Shanghai, where he spoke on open source and AI strategy. He currently serves on the boards of the Fintech Open Source Foundation and previously on, OpenSSF, LF Networking, and OSEHRA.
